Proper Skin Exfoliation Is Imperative Before You Apply A Sun Sunless Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

For any self tanner product, it will only adhere well on skin if you have cleaned the body of things like salts, oils, and dirt. After you have chosen your Sun Sunless tanning lotion, it will require you to plan on how you will apply it. Of course, you will need to have a great deal of preparing the skin.

It takes practice to understand how you can do the tanning perfectly without causing imperfections. Your first application may be more of experimental than actually applying but with practice, you will be able to know the ins and outs. Some areas can particularly be a challenge to apply especially your back.

When you use oil based scrubs to exfoliate skin, they could leave the oils on pores thus blocking them. The idea here is to have pores that are free from any type of debris. When you have buffed the dead skin and other forms of debris, you will be able to improve the tan effect on body.

Every process happens with a lot of care because if you do not get a step correct, it may interfere with the smooth adhering of tan on skin. Prior to applying a tan, you want to do away with hair that may affect infiltration of tan. The presence of hair on body might prevent the tanner from spreading evenly. Some tan will stick on the hair also changing it.

With time, if you do not shower and exfoliate skin, that debris accumulates on pore thus clogging them. The tanner lotions ingredients work by penetrating through pores and reaching the epidermis where they interact with protein in the outermost layer of skin. If ingredients in tanner lotions are not finding their way inside the skin, then they will not bring the effect of tanning.

When you exfoliate skin, you allow the ingredients to effectively infiltrate skin and cause the change in color. This color change is temporary and will fade away with time. It may take about five or so day before the self tan color begins to fade away. What happens is that the color comes out when the skin sloughs and removes those dead cells.

Allowing the skin to stay for about one or two days after shaving will ensure that the moment you apply your tan, it will have already healed and not very sensitive. When applying, if there are parts that take a lot of tan, you can use a damp washcloth or towel to wipe away the excess tan. This will prevent some parts from becoming too orangey than others.

The exfoliation procedure will help in preparing the skin and especially the folded and creased areas. Using a skin brush or a scrub, you can remove those debris and oils trapped in the folds and pores thus leaving your skin fresh and ready for application of tanner. This will ensure you get a uniform shade from the tan.
