The Process Of Making Clothing Labels At Home

By Charles Lee

Textile industries use soft plastic tags on the cloth fabric for several reasons. One of them is to portray the type of material used to fabricate a cloth. Another reason is to portray the washing and ironing guidelines. These tags are known as clothing labels. They can also be made at home using the following easy to learn steps. These instructions apply to those who want to start a business of making and selling handmade products.

Some tools are needed for this activity. For instance, you require a stencil, sprays, ribbons, gloves and scissors for starters. Make sure that these materials are available before commencing with the process of making cloth stickers. The stencil also needs to have a logo that has been designed depending on what you like.

Alternatively, you can give a stencil a custom cut yourself especially when you own a laser cutter. You need to use a graphics software to produce a two-dimensional media. Choosing materials for painting the designed tag is important. To be precise, you should choose an acrylic sheet because it works well with colors.

The procedure involves spraying paint on an acrylic leaf. This procedure should commence once you have ensured that gloves, spray paints and scissors are available. Furthermore, it is wise to ensure that the spray paint does not emit thick paint because this will saturate the tool. In this case, you need to purchase a new spray paint from a hardware store. Painting should take place in a properly ventilated room. You can also decide to carry out the painting procedure outside.

The next step is to slot a ribbon piece over the stencil. You can spray over the ribbon after putting on gloves to protect your hands. Ensure that your arm moves around and maintains a constant distance when spraying on the stencil. To be precise, the distance between your hand and the equipment should be about fifteen inches. This distance ensures that spraying takes place effectively.

Another step should be undertaken with care to ensure that paint does not touch the parts of a stencil. You should position it carefully. Once you are done with spraying, you should remove the ribbon slowly by ensuring that its surface does not touch the template. Stencils can be cleaned or replaced whenever they are saturated with paint.

Allow the ribbon to dry for you to cut it into different lengths using scissors. This procedure ensures that tags are obtained from a dried ribbon. These tags are then folded and sewn to make a seam. It is advisable to sew the cut ends of the tags for the seam to be more appealing in appearance.

There are high chances of succeeding with the last procedure. In this step, you are required to use a simple and effective sewing machine to make a seam of the dried ribbon. It is advisable to choose strings with brighter colors for the tag to be more appealing. A metal can be used to straighten and fold the seam. Once this procedure is over, the final product is known as a cloth tag.
