Modest Islamic Clothing Is The Ideal

By Andrew Morgan

It is really quite amazing how much religion plays a role in people's lives. Many standards are out there for most mainstream religions and Islam is no exception. Islam is a strict religion, but it is also very loving and accepting. The standards for clothing are a bit stricter for women than for men and, for this reason, modest islamic clothing is the standard by which they go.

If a person is wearing clothes that show their body parts explicitly, it is hard to think about things of a higher nature. The natural man is selfish and egotistical and wants everything it wants right now. Islam is about desiring more than that. It is about wanting to go deeper so one can connect to Allah. If someone is dressed immodestly, it is very hard to think about Allah. Your thoughts might drift to sexual things or about self glory.

It is very hard to maintain unselfishness in a world which constantly promotes it. Everyday one is bombarded with pictures and images of people dressed with very little on. The message is that this way of looking is a role model for what everyone should strive to look like. The pressure is great to look like this in modern society. Young girls will try to copy this image and be hard on themselves if they do not look exactly like the young woman in her swimsuit on the magazine cover.

Look online for websites that sell clothing that you find would be helpful in observing Islamic principles. Principles like this are not easy to live by, but they are worth investing in and being obedient to. Obedience is a principle that many religions teach is crucial to have for your optimal growth. It is up to you to decide if this is true or not. Anything worth fighting for is probably worth having. The harder the fight, the greater the reward. Spirituality and religion are no different.

Make sure you measure yourself according to the measurements that the merchant has not your standard measurements. The merchant will sometimes hire a seamstress to make a pattern for the clothes so the measurements will not be the same as you would have had you walked into a store.

Online purchasing is different than at a store. No dressing room is obviously available when you buy online. Make sure you have everything in order before you buy online. Refunds may be harder to get when you cannot walk into a store and speak directly to the manager. Emails and phone calls only go so far when you are hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

Use the color wheel to look at what colors you will like the most. Many women wear very lovely colors for their hijab, while the burka usually stays black. Be creative with this and experiment with some different ideas. You will see how the colors can accent your clothing that you wear as well. Try different colors so you have a big choice to choose from when you pick out your clothes for the day.

The importance of modesty cannot be stressed enough. You can teach this principle to your children. The best form of teaching, however, is your example. If you dress modestly, your children most likely will, too. They watch everything that you do and will emulate what they see.
