Save Energy With A Faux Fur Throw

By Ruth Cole

Making a room look fabulous while maintaining practicality is not as hard as it may seem to some. There are many small yet inexpensive touches that not only improve a room but can also improve the quality of life. These can save energy, space or time and something like a faux fur throw can go a long way.

Besides keeping a person warm, blankets and throws can also be decorative. Nowadays, there are many vibrant colors and textures from which to choose and may complement any decor theme. Or one can create their own by using pillows or other accent using the same color.

Faux fur products have come a long way in recent, as the look and feel is a lot like the real thing. Those made from exceptional quality materials tend to have a similar texture yet remain soft, even after much use. While some can be washed using a large machine, taking a furry throw or blanket to a dry cleaner will definitely keep it looking new longer.

There are also many color choices for faux fur and other luxury blended fabrics. Anyone can choose from blended colors, patterns or bold colors like blue, purple and yellow. Many of these can bring life to any home decor, whether it be fun, traditional, or somewhere in between.

Using a thick blanket or throw in the cooler months can save energy since there is no electricity needed to stay warm. Natural body heat can remain insulated during rest so there are no surprises by having too much or little heat. Besides saving money, these also save money since there is no electrical control that will go out after extensive use.

Some people like to have a matching area rug made from faux fur. While it can be used in any room, it may be best in a place where foot traffic in minimal. The care procedures are similar to that of a blanket or throw and is ideal for use in the bedroom or living room.

Another way to save energy and create a relaxing look are the use of candles. There are many varieties on the market that include flameless and scented that can last for weeks. Using these instead of light can help save money on the energy bill and warm an enclosed room.

Getting rid of clutter on surfaces can also help a space look better. Instead of throwing things out, storing these items may be the best solution. When storage pieces look nice, it makes it easier to keep things organized.

For instance, old boxes with or without lids can be painted or covered with gift wrap made to match any room interior. If needed, handles can be made from old wire hangers or cut with a crafting knife. Once these are ready for use, they can be stacked along walls or placed underneath hard furnishings. These can be wonderful space savers and cut to accommodate almost any item worth storing.

Being frugal and fabulous has many rewards. Anyone can transform a room with just a few pieces that look luxurious but do not cost a lot. Not only is it fun to create a look fitting of personal tastes but it can also help a bank account balance grow faster.
