Taking Care Of Your Exquisite Faux Sheepskin Rug

By Michael Hughes

The two most important considerations when purchasing a sheepskin rug should be comfort and durability. Is the plush deep and is the backing supple? Will it last and retain its good shape and quality over the long term? Take your time when purchasing it and do some research. Ensure the rug you decide to purchase is all-natural and not a synthetic duplication. There is nothing like the feel, look, and touch of real faux sheepskin rug.

Looking at their history sheepskin rugs must have come from regions of the world that had an extent of expertise in raising sheep and sheep-shearing. Such countries include the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia. That isn't meant to imply that sheep hide rugs from other countries aren't also full of quality; it's just a start. You can place your trust in countries that have dealt with sheep for centuries as they have learned much from their history.

Sheepskin Mat-A full mat is an absolutely beautiful addition to a room. It will add warm, luxury, and coziness to the room like no other mat can. Sheep hide mats come in a variety of sizes, the smallest usually being around 6 feet long and 5 feet wide. Even these large ones look great when used as a wall accent or flung over a sofa corner.

If you managed to get a stain of some sort on your mat, or must clean it with water and solution, then let us go over the particulars. Some people tend to put their sheepskin mat into the washing machine but I don't really recommend it. It will be fine for a couple of times, but your mat will quickly lose its luster and plushness. If you need to wash your mat in water then I suggest you draw a cold bath and use a cleaning solution that's sheepskin friendly. Once your mat is dry run your metal brush through it until it comes back to life.

Bedspread-Many people choose to place their mats on the top of their beds. It's a great look and easy to complete the room decor around. White is a stunning choice on the bed and every so classy!

Texture is also a very important aspect. The texture of the sheep hide is obviously a high priority. It should be soft, neatly combed, pliable, and produce little or no shedding. The material used for backing should not feel artificial or rubber-like. A wire brush and an occasional shaking should keep the mat in good shape. In the event of buying a sheep hide mat make sure it bounces back durably from the use of a good wire brush, using a gentle motion to reshape the fibres.

Caring for the rugs, it should be noted, ought to be completely safe to clean in a washing machine, on a gentle cycle, using a non-biological shampoo. They can also be dry cleaned, if that method is preferred.

After consideration of all these factors, the prime end-all decision-making point should be how the sheepskin rug looks and feels to you. You should want to run your fingers through it, lay on it and absorb the nuances of its feel, or simply observe it in a special corner of your room.
