Factors To Consider When Choosing Custom Handmade Ties

By Dennis Barnes

Some wardrobe components are very important but people do not know what to look for. Neckties are among these components. People might overlook them when dressing but it attracts a lot of attention. It can say a lot about your profession and style. Choosing the best in the shop can, however, be challenging because most buyers do not know what to look for. Below are things to keep in mind when buying custom handmade ties.

First, keep in mind the sizing of the necktie. When picking based on size, keep the proportion of your face and outfit in mind. If you want something for a casual occasion, select slim neckties if you want to be up to date in terms of fashion. However, the knots will be smaller. Larger neckties will have larger knots and are good for suits or shirts with wider lapels. A thin lapel is best for those with a smaller width.

The next critical factor to consider is the stitch of the tie. It brings a lot of benefits including keeping the two sides of the necktie together and in good shape. Check the stitch before deciding on to purchase. Lack of a stitch will make it look like there are air pockets in it.

The other tip to consider is the material and texture. The quality of the fabric determines the life of the necktie. Therefore, when you walk into a store to make a purchase, inquire about the material used or even read the label on it. If you have no financial problems, choose fabric because it is durable, it is resistant to wrinkling and allows you to create various types of knots. Cotton and cashmere are other options for the fabric you can select.

Again, remember to check for a diagonal cut at the blade. This gives the tie a great shape if it is done well. You will not have problems with the knot failing to align with the whole body or the tie twisting to the sides. It ensures the necktie stays balanced without drifting sideways.

Additionally, consider the slip knot. Be wary of stores that tell you that you are buying a bespoke handmade necktie whereas you cannot see a loop. The price of those that have loops is very high but is long lasting. A person can adjust the loop over years to avoid wear and tear that comes due to tying and untying. It becomes possible to maintain the shape in addition to increasing its life.

To become a great tie buyer, learn to evaluate its body or shell. Check out the condition of the blade, gusset and the tail. These are the components that make up the whole thing and if one of these things is not right, then you will not be buying something of good quality.

Lastly, you must get value out of your investment. A perfect way to do this is by inquiring about how to care for the tie so that it can serve you for long and stay in good shape. Some things you can do include taking it to a dry cleaner or using a damp cloth to get rid of dirt and stains.
