Festival Fashion The Right Wardrobe For A Music Festival

By David Burns

Festival time is upon us again and, alongside worrying about having enough tent pegs - or getting a tent in the first place - you may be considering what your festival wardrobe is going to contain this year. There are a few tips that you'll be grateful for during the festival, the key one being to pack as lightly as you can. You can spend a lot of time walking to the campsite and hoisting heavy bags and tents along with your food and drink for the weekend can be a strenuous task. However, you do have to take clothes - though some may disagree - so here are a few items that should be on your essential list of festival fashion.

You will also need fresh T-shirts to change into every day. It's no secret that festivals can be hot during the day and even hotter at night, what with crowds packing into stage areas to dance to their favorite bands - and showers can be hard to come by. So bring plenty of clean T-shirts that'll ensure you both look and smell good. What's more, the right T-shirts could see you making some new friends too.

Many people go along to these festivals purely for the atmosphere and the music, caring very little about their wardrobes, and you can take a leaf out of their books. Understated is always the way to go, stick to tried and tested clothing, such as cut off jeans or mini denim skirts, team with a funky graphic tees and you will look trendy without having to try too hard, or better yet, spend any money.

For guys you can't beat a pair of light chinos and a graphic T-shirt. The trousers may be long but the fabric will let your skin breathe and they will keep your legs clean. Graphic T-shirts are just a great way of expressing your personality in a practical way as they are compact and look fine if creased.

Suitable footwear is also vital. Most likely, you're going to be spending all day in the same pair, so buying new shoes that haven't been broken in yet isn't recommended. Obviously, if you're expecting a lot of rain and mud, wellies are the logical choice.

These styles of Mackintosh are great because they go with casual clothing, such as jeans and a t-shirt, or combat trousers and knitted jumpers, so they never look out of place with contemporary fashions. You want to show your fun-loving side when at a festival, so select clothing that is bright, bold, and a little playful.

Festivals are not the cleanest of places with people brushing against each other all the time, beer glasses flying through the air and other horrid factors not worth mentioning. You definitely do not want to get in the midst of all this.

Having something people can relate to on your T-shirt, like a retro cartoon T-shirt or something quirky or funny, makes it a lot easier for people to start up a conversation with you. For example, if you've plumped for a Batman T-shirt to proudly display your affection for the caped crusader, you could find yourself conversing with strangers about the latest Batman flick - or arguing that the dark knight is absolutely better than Superman.
